Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost of therapy with you? Do you take insurance?
I provide individual teletherapy to adults who live in California. If you decide not to use insurance or if I don’t take your insurance plan, my fee is $200 per therapy session. I accept credit or debit cards for payment. I currently can take Aetna and Anthem Blue Cross insurance plans. Please notify me if you have one of these insurance plans before our first meeting. Also, please check with your insurance provider for information about your mental health care coverage. There can be limitations to what insurance will cover.

If I do not take your insurance plan and you have out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance plan, you can pay out of pocket and I can provide you with a statement of services (a "superbill") at the end of each month that you can submit to your insurance company. Your insurance provider may be able to provide you with partial reimbursement. If you use this payment option, please be sure to check with your insurance provider if they do provide out-of-network reimbursement since each plan is different. You can usually gather this information by calling the member services phone number listed on the back of your insurance card.

Good Faith Estimate: Under the current law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. For more information, please see my Resources page.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment if you are unable to attend your session. I charge a cancellation fee of $100 if I am provided with less than 2 hours notice of your scheduled session time.
What happens during the initial consultation call?
During the free 15-minute consultation call, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist. I will answer any questions or concerns you may have. It is essential that you find a therapist who is a good fit. If we both decide that it is a good match, we can then schedule a first session together.
What should I expect in the first therapy session?
In the first session, I will begin to get to know you and we will discuss your responses to the intake paperwork. I will ask you questions about your current struggles and about your background and identities. The first therapy session with me is typically more structured than the following therapy sessions, meaning I will ask you a number of questions about why you are seeking therapy as well as different aspects of your mental and physical wellbeing to get a better sense of how to support you. In the first few sessions, we will collaboratively work together to determine your goals for therapy (which can always be modified depending on your needs).

If we determine in the first few sessions that a different therapy approach or treatment would better fit your needs and goals, then I will provide you with referrals to help you get the support that you are seeking. It is important to me and for your therapy progress that you feel comfortable and supported in therapy whether you chose to work with me or with another therapist.
How long are the therapy sessions and how frequently do they occur?
Each therapy session is 50 minutes. I usually provide therapy weekly. However, depending on your needs and preferences, sessions can occur weekly, every other week, or monthly. I may provide recommendations for meeting more or less frequently based on your needs and goals
How long does therapy last?
It really depends on your individual concerns and goals. I offer both short-term therapy (usually less than 12 sessions) that is solution-focused and longer-term therapy depending on your needs and treatment goals. This is something that we can discuss in therapy and determine what would be most beneficial for you.
Where are you located?
I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I provide HIPPA-compliant (secure) video therapy to clients who reside anywhere in California. In order to participate in teletherapy, it is important that you are able to talk in a private space. I currently am not providing in-person therapy.
What therapy services do you offer? What are your areas of specialty?
I offer individual therapy to adult clients (18 years old and above) who are located in California. I provide 50-minute psychotherapy sessions by secure video. For more information about my therapy services and areas of specialty, please see my Services page.
